Pretty bubbles for you.

Rest in peace. We will miss you.

So who is on your best dressed list?

Here are my three favorites from the big night.

I think Mila wore my favorite! (elie saab, of course!)

Matthew is a lucky man. Camila looked beautiful in this Kaufmanfranco.

CATE-BLANCHETT-OSCARS-2011
Cate Blanchett in Givency. I happen to love it!

P.S.
I was so excited when I heard PS22 was going to perform at the show! What an amazing experience for them! Have you ever seen their videos on youtube? They are incredible.....here is a little something to bring us back from all that dress talk and materialism.

Oscar Outfit.

I absolutely adore the Oscars. I grew up practicing my acceptance speech in the mirror, fully dressed to the nines, with an "Oscar" in hand. Post child-hood I hosted an award-show party with a strict dress code: evening wear :)

So here is what I would wear Sunday night.....pink and lots of sparkle. Even I admit the shoes might be overkill - but when else but the Oscars?!?!?

Enjoy the show (and your weekend)!

On repeat because I love her.

Cacti and succulent love!

I have been collecting cacti and succulents for a few years now. They have followed me around the country (the ones that made it anyway). I think of them as my sculptures. Their shapes, colors and textures are so unusual and quite exquisite. I love them sitting in my apartment windows, they always make me smile.

(these just made me laugh, aren't they ridiculous?!?!?)

Stich.....stich.....stich.......

I recently embroidered "love" on the pillow my Mom gave me for Christmas. It took a long time....and it was simple. That is why I am thoroughly amazed by the patience (and talent!!!) of these three embroidery artists. Just imagine the hours of stitching! Their results are incredible!!!

Yup, it's embroidery by artist Cayce Zavaglia. Beautiful!

The back side of this one is even more gorgeous! Reminds me of Chuck Close, post "the event".
I am glad I found this image (and inspiration) from the blog, Embroidery as Art.

I love how artist Lauren DiCioccio captures moments in the history and the NYT.

6-1
I love the movement in this one.

31-2
Lady Gaga embroidered.

This is my favorite and I don't even like football.

Birthday Brightness!

It's my cousin's birthday today! He's officially a teenager at 11:45 this morning! Oh dear :)

Here are some pretty cakes to celebrate (I am choosing to ignore all the artificial dyes and sugar AND white flour)! I think birthdays should be bright and colorful! I am not sure my cousin would agree.....he just wants banana cream pie! That is exactly what he will get. Happy Tuesday to all and a very Happy Birthday "Clive"!

Winter amazingness!

Just when you think winter is making it's departure, a blizzard reminds you otherwise. It's crazy here with ice and snow.....and more is on it's way. Oh joy.

Winter can be cool though IF you are in Northeastern China for the Harbin International Ice Festival. Check it out! Here is to you winter......

Grey. Nude. Pink. Black. Oh yeah, and sparkle.

We haven't even made it to Spring yet, but it was already Fall this week in NYC for Fashion Week. I have been following most of the shows on New York Mag. There was the usual Fall line-up of dead animals (fur and leather). I was happy to still see skinny legs on lot of the pants (I am so not ready to give up this look!!!). There were pops of bright blue, mustard and a range of greens.

I collected my favorites throughout the week and realized today the looks I chose had nothing to do with those pops of color. I guess I can't help but gravitate toward pinks, nudes, blacks, greys and of course sparkles!

Happy Weekend!!!

25-1
This Marchesa gown stole my heart. I adore it!
(if only I had a place to wear it, (sigh))

31-1
This is my second favorite look. It just is so lady like. I love the monochromatic separates.
Well done, Mr. Kors!

28
This Naeem Khan gown is a bit art deco, don't you think?

17
Grey and nude Altuzarra. Modern and chic.

50
You can't do fashion week without Marc Jacobs. I love the sleeves (and her tiny waist (jealous!)).

30-1
Jenny Packham's show was full of sparkle (just the way I like it).

36-1
I will always be a sucker for full skirts with pretty tees.
This pink one by Christian Sariano looks especially fun to frolic around in!

30
I just want to swoosh around in this lovely Vivienne Tam number!

Today you are going whale hunting and then exploring your emotions.

(this picture will make more sense after your whale hunt)

Jonathan Harris's work is an old favorite of mine. His work combines computer science and story telling (of sorts). It's hard to blog about him in pictures because his work is interactive.

So here is what you are going to do:

1. Read through all directions first.
2. Click here and be amazed about his time on a whale hunt in Barrow, Alaska.
3. When you are done with your whale hunt come back to my blog and click here and explore on-line emotions in another one of J.H.'s work.
4. Now go back to number 2 and get your click on! Have fun!

I need to find myself a hippy husband....

To build a hippy house with:) These images are what my dream home is full of: sunlight, creativity and character (and love - can't you just feel the love?). Of course I would put my own twist on it all including Mid-century furniture!

(If I can't find that hippy husband there's always a tiny house!)
