Trees please.

I adore trees. I get that from my mother.

Since moving to Pennsylvania I have become absolutely fascinated with the vegetation here. So many of the trees look like characters from an enchanted forest. There is one tree at the shore I have fallen head over heels with: the monkey puzzle tree. If the trees can be so different just a few states away - imagine a few countries away! It's my mom's birthday!

Today is my mom's birthday. I love my mom. She (and my dad) provided my brother and I with a beautiful childhood full of kittens and chicks, craft projects, a lamb named Tory Popcorn, plenty of good books and enough love to last a lifetime. She always stopped to take the inevitable pickers out of my socks on outdoor adventures, barely ever raised her voice and tucked us in every night when we gave her the signal we were ready for bed, "hoot....hoot". My childhood was pretty much perfect.

My mom is a nature lover - in fact right now she and my father are in Alaska visiting my darling brother, Muk Muk. My mom also LOVES animals. They are her passion - especially cute small baby ones. So here is to you Mom, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Oh little cozy home....

I wish you were mine. I just spent a week back at home in Wisconsin - full of family and little cousins, swimming in turquoise lakes and walks in the great outdoors. Bliss. Makes me wish I lived a little closer to nature (and to those cousins).

But for now I will settle for my little pink bedroom in the city of brotherly love (with a very handsome (and funny!) man-friend).
