Let's plant the walls green!

Who needs paint (or wallpaper for that matter!)? These walls are not only G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S but have environmental benefits as well. Read this blurb from the Sustainability Institute and then get out your green thumbs:

The benefits range significantly. The most obvious is an improvement in air quality. We all had to learn the process of photosynthesis - the absorption of carbon dioxide and the release of O2 as a bi-product acts as a natural air filter. For those outdoor walls, urban bio-diversity is enriched and created is a provision for outdoor wildlife habitats. It creates an attractive urban space while also protecting the fabric of a building from UV rays and acidic rain. If the green wall is on the southern-facing wall of the building, it helps to regulate temperature within the building, lessening the demand on the HVAC system. These walls also drone out traffic and other urban noise.

It's easier than you think Kermit (and prettier too!)

Monday is painting day.

I am painting my cousin's room today - a very pretty, pale rosey- lavender. So in honor of painting day - let's post some paintings! You may recall the post about Brazil artist, Henrique Oliveira's amazing sculptures.....well here are his some of his most amazing paintings.

Happy Monday!

There are plenty more to look at here.

BRRRRRRR.........

I woke up this morning and it was 14 BELOW zero!!! Yikes. I am not a cold weather girl at all - but if I have to be let's dream up a warm and cozy weekend in the woods, shall we?

We will stay here among the trees (full of their tall tales).

We will have a fire - of course!
(stone fireplaces are the best!)

We'll drink homemade hot cocoa with home-made marshmallow peeps.

This red will go just fine.....

With this most delicious looking sweet potato and kale soup!

We can cuddle up with winter white sheets.

With extra colorful vintage blankets (in case we get cold)!

Come into the darkness.

I love black walls in rooms - so chic! In high school I painted one wall black (with hideous sea foam green carpet I picked out when I was 10(cringe)). It's still my favorite wall.

Here are some black beauties:
